PNG · 184 KBPNG stores every pixel exactly, with no further compression loss. It's the format to pick when a HEIC has transparency you need to keep. Because it's lossless, a PNG of a photo is much larger than a JPG or WebP of the same image. That's ideal for screenshots, graphics, and logos, less so for camera photos. HEIC is already lossy, so converting to PNG preserves the image as it is. It can't restore detail the original encoding dropped.
PNG is lossless, so photos can come out larger than the HEIC. If you don't need transparency or a pixel-exact copy, WebP or AVIF will be much smaller.
