About converting HEIC

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and almost nothing outside the Apple ecosystem opens it. Windows needs an extension, most upload forms reject it, and older software has never heard of it. Converting HEIC to JPG is the universal fix. Converting to WebP or AVIF instead gets you a smaller file if the photo is headed for a website. HEIC is decode-only on Blinkimg: we convert from it, never into it, because nothing outside a camera roll benefits from receiving one.

Your browser cannot display HEIC, so the preview shows a format tile instead of a thumbnail. The conversion itself is unaffected.

Questions, answered

Short answers specific to this page. The tool above settles most of them in a second.

What is the best format to convert HEIC to?
JPG, in almost every case. It opens everywhere and keeps the photo quality. Choose WebP or AVIF only when the photo is going onto a website and file size matters.
Can I convert a whole batch of iPhone photos?
Yes: up to 50 HEIC files at once, 30 MB each, with no account. Download them individually or as one ZIP.
Why can nothing open my HEIC files?
HEIC is Apple's default camera format, and support outside Apple devices is patchy. Converting to JPG once is usually less hassle than installing codecs on every machine that needs the photo.
