Convert HEIC to PDF

A HEIC to PDF converter turns iPhone photos into one PDF, a page per photo, on any device. Each HEIC becomes a JPEG page with its EXIF and GPS removed; our 1,956 KB photo made a 941.7 KB PDF. Part of the image to PDF converter.

How to convert HEIC to PDF in 3 steps

Free, in your browser, with no sign-up. Each step is the tool at the top of this page.

  1. Drop the HEIC photos

Up to 10, from Photos, Files or a folder, in the order you want the pages.

  2. Set a PDF size if a form limits it

Open Advanced settings and type Max PDF size. Leave it empty for pages at Auto quality.

  3. Download the PDF

The pages combine into one A4 PDF on their own, with the location data stripped.

How much does a HEIC photo shrink as a PDF?

One real file, measured through the same path your files take.

HEICPixelsJPEG pagePDF
1,956 KB2268 × 4032940.7 KB941.7 KB
343 KB1920 × 1280267.4 KB268.4 KB

Sources: phone.heic (1,956 KB, 2268 × 4032) and photo.heic (343 KB, 1920 × 1280), each through the engine to a JPEG page at Auto, as the converter plans a HEIC page, and assembled by the same code as the server. The rows are the real output.

Every byte count is the size of the actual file our engine produced from the named source, the same bytes you would download, not an estimate. The reference photo is one of our own photographs, an iguana on a branch, and the camera photo is a real one too. Drop your own file into the tool above to rerun any of them. How we measure names the sources and the settings.

What happens to a HEIC photo inside a PDF?

A 2268 × 4032 HEIC photo of 1,956 KB into a PDF: the page inside is a JPEG at Auto, because a PDF has no HEIC image type, and the PDF weighs 941.7 KB. EXIF and the GPS position are stripped on the way.

It becomes a JPEG page. The PDF format has no HEIC image type, so the engine decodes the HEIC and saves the page as a JPEG at Auto quality, at the photo’s full resolution. Our 2268 × 4032 photo of 1,956 KB made a 941.7 KB PDF. Any HEIC to PDF route has to convert the picture somewhere; here it happens once, with the size measured and the EXIF block removed before the page is written. The HEIC to JPG page does the same conversion when you want the photos as images, not a PDF.

How do I convert HEIC to PDF on an iPhone?

The route Apple documents on an iPhone from iOS 26: open the photo in the Preview app, tap the Actions menu next to the file name, tap Export, choose PDF, then save it to Files. Insert from File adds more photos to the same PDF. iOS 27 adds Save Images as JPEG and Embed Text.

Apple documents one route in the iPhone User Guide, from iOS 26: open the photo in the Preview app, tap the Actions menu next to the file name, tap Export, choose PDF, then save the file to Files. To add more photos, touch and hold a page thumbnail and tap Insert from File; drag the thumbnails to reorder the pages. The iOS 26 guide gives the export a file-size slider. The iOS 27 guide adds PDF options: Save Images as JPEG for a smaller file, and Embed Text, which runs text recognition. To pick many photos at once, open this page in Safari, tap the drop zone and select them all in Photos: each becomes a page, in the order you picked them.

How do I combine many HEIC photos into one PDF?

Four iPhone photos in HEIC dropped together become pages 1 to 4 of one PDF in drop order, each a JPEG page at Auto; up to 10 photos go in one drop, with a size cap for the whole PDF if you set one.

Drop them together. Each photo becomes a page, in the order you dropped them, up to 10 in one drop, and the PDF assembles itself when the last page is done. That suits the jobs people use HEIC to PDF for: a receipt run for expenses, the pages of a document shot on a phone, the photos a claim form asks for. HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP files can share one PDF. The rotation a phone records in EXIF is applied before the page is made, so a photo held sideways still lands the right way up.

How big is a HEIC photo as a PDF?

Two HEIC files as PDFs, measured: our reference photo saved as a 1920 × 1280 HEIC of 343 KB made a 268.4 KB PDF, and a 2268 × 4032 phone photo of 1,956 KB made 941.7 KB, 48% of the HEIC.

About half the HEIC for a full-size photo, in our measurement. The 1,956 KB photo made a 941.7 KB PDF, 48% of the source, because the JPEG page at Auto quality came to 940.7 KB and the PDF wrapper added 1 KB. Our reference photo, saved as a 1920 × 1280 HEIC of 343 KB, made 268.4 KB. When a portal limits the file, set Max PDF size in Advanced settings; the JPG to PDF under 200 KB page opens with a common limit already set, and HEIC photos work there too.

  • You want the photos as images

For JPGs to share or upload one by one, convert HEIC to JPG instead. A PDF is for sending the set as one document.

  • The live photo or depth matters

A PDF page is a still picture. The motion of a Live Photo and the depth data of a portrait stay in the HEIC only.

  • You need searchable text

A page made from a photo is a picture of the text. Run OCR in a PDF editor, or use the Embed Text option in Preview on iOS 27.

Questions, answered

Short answers for this format. Drop a file above and the PDF settles the rest.

How do I convert HEIC to PDF for free?

Drop the HEIC photos on the converter at the top of the page. Each one becomes a page of one PDF, in the order you dropped them, and the file downloads with no signup and no watermark. Up to 10 photos go in one drop, straight from an iPhone, a Mac or a Windows PC.

Can I convert HEIC to PDF on my iPhone without an app?

Yes, two ways. In a browser, open this page, tap the drop zone and pick the photos. Or use the Preview app Apple ships from iOS 26: open the photo, tap the Actions menu next to its name, tap Export, choose PDF and save it to Files. Insert from File then adds more photos to that PDF.

How do I convert HEIC to PDF on a Mac?

For one photo, open the HEIC in Preview, choose File, then Export, and pick PDF as the format, as Apple's Preview guide describes. For several, the macOS User Guide describes Finder's Quick Actions, Create PDF, which combines the selected files in the order you select them. For a PDF that must fit a size limit, drop the photos on this page and set the cap.

How do I convert HEIC to PDF on Windows?

In the browser, since this page reads HEIC for you. Windows needs Microsoft Store extensions before its own Photos app opens a HEIC, and only then could it print one to PDF. Here the converter decodes the photo on our servers, so a stock Windows PC turns HEIC files into a PDF in one drop.

Does the PDF keep the full resolution of my iPhone photo?

Yes. The page keeps every pixel: our 2268 × 4032 photo stayed 2268 × 4032 inside the PDF. What changes is the encoding, a JPEG page at Auto quality instead of HEIC, which is why a 1,956 KB photo made a 941.7 KB PDF. The sheet is A4, and the photo is scaled to fit it.

Is there a HEIC to PDF converter that combines photos?

This one. Drop up to 10 HEIC photos at once and they combine into a single PDF, one page per photo, in drop order. HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP files can mix in the same drop, which helps when a document scan came from an iPhone and a receipt from somewhere else.

Can I convert HEIF to PDF as well as HEIC?

Yes, the same way. HEIF is the container format and HEIC is the name an iPhone gives the file when the picture inside is HEVC-coded. The converter reads both, .heic and .heif alike, and each photo becomes a JPEG page of the PDF the same way.

Does converting HEIC to PDF remove the location data?

Yes. EXIF metadata is stripped by default, and on an iPhone photo that includes the GPS position where it was taken. The PDF carries the picture and nothing about where or when you shot it. Files are wiped automatically, deleted within 24 hours of upload at the latest.

Can I make the HEIC to PDF file smaller?

Yes. Open Advanced settings and type a Max PDF size, such as 200 KB for a form. The budget is split across the pages before any upload, and each page is saved under its share, so the PDF lands at or under the number. The JPG to PDF budget pages open with a limit already set.
