How it works

Drop, remove, download

Three steps, no account. The download keeps full quality and loses its AI metadata.

  1. JPEGRemove AI metadata: on

    Drop

Drop an AI image. The Advanced panel is open at quality 100 with both Remove boxes ticked.

  2. ADVANCEDRemove AIMETADATARemovedC2PAAI TAGPROMPTTOOL

    Remove

Nothing to press. To keep camera data, untick Remove EXIF metadata before you drop. A HEIC keeps none.

  3. WASNOWDownload

    Download

The file keeps its format at full quality (a HEIC comes back as JPG), with no AI tag or C2PA.

8 AI tools, one prompt

What AI metadata is in my image?

An AI image can carry your prompt, your workflow and an account ID, not only a label. We made one image with each of 8 AI tools on 24 October 2026 and read every file.

  • ChatGPT: a signed C2PA record

A 23.7 KB manifest signed by OpenAI Media Service. Its actions include c2pa.watermarked.unbound: OpenAI's own record that the pixels carry a watermark too.

  • Gemini: a note that names SynthID

Google's manifest says "Applied imperceptible SynthID watermark". The record goes with the download; the mark it names stays in the pixels.

  • Ideogram: a copy of your picture

A 92.2 KB manifest in two parts, with a thumbnail of the image inside it.

  • ComfyUI: your prompt and workflow

The prompt (2.2 KB) and the whole node graph (17.1 KB) as text in the PNG. Anyone with the file can load your workflow.

  • Meta AI: a tag and a Facebook ID

A made-by-AI tag in XMP and a Facebook ID in IPTC. An ID says more about you than the picture does.

  • A real photo marked as AI

Generative Fill in Photoshop can add Content Credentials and an AI source type to a photo you took. A platform that reads those fields may call the whole picture AI-made.

Tested on 26 October 2026

We posted it on Instagram and Facebook

The ChatGPT original, with its C2PA manifest, got “AI content” within a minute on both. The copy from this page got no label, and still none 2 minutes later. We deleted all 4 posts.

  • The original ChatGPT teapot on Instagram with the label AI content under the account name

    Labelled: AI content

    Instagram, the original

With its C2PA manifest: "AI content" under the account name.

  • The same teapot after this page removed its AI metadata, on Instagram with no AI label

    No label

The same picture with its AI metadata removed: no label.

  • The original ChatGPT teapot on the Blinkimg Facebook Page with AI content in the post header

    Labelled: AI content

    Facebook, the original

"AI content" in the post header, beside Published by.

  • The cleaned teapot on the Blinkimg Facebook Page with no AI label in the post header

    No label

No label, and still none 2 minutes later.

One picture, one account each, watched for 2 minutes. Meta also labels from your own disclosure and its own detection. The full test is in how to remove AI metadata from an image.

No AI field left

How do I remove AI metadata from an image?

Drop it and download. The Advanced panel opens at quality 100 with Remove EXIF metadata and Remove AI image metadata both ticked. We ran all 8 files through the engine twice, and no AI field was left in either run.

Source: one test file per AI tool, each carrying the real metadata of an image we made with that tool on 24 October 2026. Saved by our engine at quality 100 in its own format. Gone means the reader found no trace of the field in the download.

  • Remove the AI tag, keep your camera data

Untick Remove EXIF metadata and the camera make, the date, GPS and copyright stay, with a standard sRGB colour profile. The AI fields still go: in that run the Meta AI file kept neither its made-by-AI tag nor its Facebook ID. A HEIC keeps none of its camera data. Content Credentials never survive compressing, because the signature covers the original bytes. For camera data alone, see remove EXIF data.

  • How we tested

Each test file is a 64 × 64 picture carrying the metadata of one of our own AI images, copied byte for byte. Our engine (version 12, sharp 0.35.5) saved each file, and a script read the C2PA store, the XMP, the IPTC and the PNG text of every input and download. We had no Midjourney, Adobe Firefly or Stable Diffusion file. How we measure names the sources and the settings.

The limits

What this cannot remove

Metadata is the part of a file you can delete. Some AI marks live in the pixels or outside the file, and no metadata remover reaches them.

  • SynthID and other pixel watermarks

Google's SynthID sits in the pixels and is made to survive crops, filters and compression. Meta's invisible watermark and C2PA soft-binding marks such as TrustMark and Digimarc work the same way, and a soft-binding mark can lead a reader back to the original manifest, kept online. Blinkimg never changes pixels to defeat one.

  • Labels from a platform's own checks

Meta and TikTok also label posts from their own detection, not only from metadata. A file with no AI fields can still get a label.

  • Your own disclosure

TikTok asks creators to label realistic AI content, and Meta asks people to disclose realistic AI video and audio. Platform rules on AI disclosure still apply to you. Removing metadata does not change how an image was made.

Developers get the same default: every job through the developer API removes AI metadata unless stripAiMetadata is set to false.

Questions, answered

Short answers specific to this tool. Try it above and the editor settles the rest.

Does this remove SynthID?

No. SynthID is a watermark Google puts in the pixels themselves, made to survive crops, filters and compression. A metadata remover leaves the pixels alone, so SynthID stays in the picture. The Content Credentials in our Gemini test file say "Applied imperceptible SynthID watermark." The download loses that record, not the mark it describes.

Will Instagram still label my image?

Not in our test. A ChatGPT image with its C2PA manifest got the AI content label on Instagram and Facebook within a minute; the same image cleaned here got none after 2 minutes. Meta also labels from your own disclosure and its own detection, so a clean file can still get a label.

Is my camera EXIF kept?

Not by default. Remove EXIF metadata starts ticked, so the download carries no camera make, date, GPS or XMP. Untick it in the Advanced panel before you drop the file to keep them; a HEIC keeps none. Remove AI image metadata stays ticked, so the AI tool name, the made-by-AI tag and Meta's Facebook ID still go.

What is C2PA?

C2PA, from the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, is the open standard behind Content Credentials: a signed record, stored in the file, of which tool made an image and how it changed. Our ChatGPT, Gemini and Ideogram files each carried one. The signature covers the original bytes, so no re-encoded copy can keep a valid one.

Does it lower quality?

The download is re-encoded once at quality 100, the highest setting, in the format you dropped, and a HEIC comes back as JPG. A PNG keeps every pixel. A JPG, WebP or AVIF at 100 is close to the original but a fresh encode, usually larger than the file you dropped. Lower the Quality slider when size matters more.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no signup, no account and no charge, and the same daily allowance as every tool on the site counts beside the tool. Drop up to 50 images in one run and get one ZIP back. We keep nothing: files are processed and wiped automatically. The developer API removes AI metadata by default too.
